Cyprus
An island nation located in the brilliant blue waters of the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus is the Easternmost member of the European Union. Limassol
Limassol, also known as Lemesos, is the second-largest city on Cyprus,
possessing a population of approximately 176,900 inhabitants. Located on
Akrotiri Bay along Cyprus' southern coast, Limassol boasts beautiful
Mediterrean beaches that are wide, sandy and strech for miles. Limassol is
famous in Cyprus for its festivals, like the Carnival and Wine Festival,
though it is the Cypriot center of nightlife all year round.
Airport
Limassol is served by two airports, Larnaca Airport (LCA) and Paphos Airport (PFO).
Passports and Visas
Cyprus has been a member of the European Union since May 2004. No visas are required for entry into Cyprus by nationals of most European countries, the United States of America and Canada . Nationals of other countries should contact their nearest Cyprus consulate, or if none, the nearest British consulate. There are no vaccination requirements for visitors to Cyprus .
Climate
Cyprus enjoys an intense Mediterranean climate. No matter what time of the year, there is abundant sunshine all the year round ! October is a lovely time to visit Limassol and considered by many the best time of the year. Tourist activities are still open as it still very warm, but not unbearably so. The days are still pleasant and sunny but the night breeze offers comfortable outdoor dining & event options.
Languages
Greek and Turkish are Cyrpus' official languages, though English is widely spoken. French and German are spoken in tourist resorts.
Electricity
Electrical current is 240 volts, 50Hz. The UK-style 13 amp three square-pin plugs are used.The Cyprus electricity supply operates on 240 volts a.c 50 H.z with normal 13 amp square pin plugs.
Water
Tap water is safe to drink. It is a precious commodity on the island, especially during the summer months.
Telecommunications

Banks
The currency of the Republic is the Cyprus Pound (CYí) which is divided into 100 cents. Notes are issued in í20, í10, í5 and í1 denominations. Bank opening hours are from 08:30 to 13:00. Certain banks in tourist areas open during the afternoon. Automatic Exchange Machines and ATM Machines operate on a 24-hour basis and most currencies and denominations are accepted. |
